Today

Today was a more relaxed day than yesterday. Today Chad did airport runs to pick up and drop off peeps. He also got to help with a work project. I went with Susanne around town and ran errands and learned my way around town a bit more. We also went to the Riverwalk Mall, along the Mississippi River and to the French Market, which is like the Pike Place Market in Seattle.

This evening a group of CRM leaders went out to dinner to the Juan's Flying Burrito. Super yummy local food joint. Then some of them went to the French Quarter for an evening of people watching and music.

Long day!

This was a busy day! Chad drove to the airport several times to pick up the US Ministries Team. They joined the CRM strategic team for dinner. So there were 28 people at the Brantley's House for dinner. It was fun, and enjoyable meeting people who are involved in CRM. Chad and I also got to interact with Beth, who will also be joining us in New Orleans. She is from Chicago and is 27 years old. It was fun to hang out, the five of us, our team.

Look for more photos of our time in NOLA.

Chad is plum tuckered!

2nd time around!

Today we went around the city. We ate lunch at this cafe. This is a place where young adults in the neighborhood are able to work and learn skills that they would normally not learn. The gentleman that owns the cafe is a christian and gives these young adults a chance.

It was amazing to me that since November, when we were in New Orleans last, that there are somethings that have not changed. We saw a boat in a street, neighborhoods that are still empty of people, a church that is gutted and ready for repair. On the other side, things are changing. We saw volunteer groups working on houses, we visited with some people who were wanting to share their stories with us. One lady we spoke to stayed in her house when the storm hit, and lived in her attic for a week, before anyone came to rescue her.

Feels like home!

Yesterday when we arrived it was beautiful, sun was out. Today it feels like home...dumping rain! Mike, Chad and I went for a walk around the neighborhood this morning and it was cool. By the time we got home we were all soaked.

Today we drove the boys to Centralia where they will stay for the next 10 days. My parents are taking care of them...thank you...which allows me to join Chad in New Orleans. We leave in the morning at 6:00am. We are looking forward to being with friends and getting to know more CRM peeps. Stay tuned for updates from NOLA.

We're under the weather...

In the last 2 days we have all gone to see Dr. Lockard, our family doctor!

Dr. Lockard told Andrew: You have mucas in your lungs, but it isn't pneumonia YET!

Dr. Lockard told Nicholas: You are 34 inches tall (40%) and 34 lbs (96%). You are a busy boy and you are off the chart with your vocabulary!

Dr. Lockard told Cindy: Yup, your throat is bad, your lungs look good, but here is your Rx.

Dr. Lockard told Chad: Lots of saline and good luck!

Diaper Hero!

At 2 years of age, there are lots of funny things being done and said. Nicholas is quite the character!

Thank You Auntie Wendy!

Nicholas was so excited to get a present in the mail today. He wasted no time getting into the package. How fun that Aquadoodle is. And both boys will get lots of use out of the spelling puzzle! Great ideas. Thank you!

We have started...again!

The packing process has started. It is hard to believe that we are doing this again...but June will be here before we know it. And who knows, it may be sooner than that, as we are looking to put our house on the market in March. So if you think of us, pray! The boys are trying to process that their toys and stuff are being boxed up, Chad and I are trying to sift through things that we can get rid of and making tough decisions. Moving is an emotional process anyway, and this move is just a little bit tougher than the rest.

Good Times

Today was a great day for the Carlson Family. We had a nice morning, didn't have to rush off anywhere, Andrew went to a birthday party in the afternoon, while Chad and I took Nicholas to a playland and to the thrift store. This evening we laughed and danced around the house, had popcorn and took silly pictures.

Happy New Year!

As 2007 has just begun we look forward to the year with anticipation and excitement. Chad and I have hopes, dreams and plans for this year.

Things we are looking forward to...

Nicholas turns 2!
Chad goes to New Orleans (11 days)
Family getaway
Andrew and I flying to Minnesota to visit friends
Chad and I celebrate our 9th Anniversary!
Andrew graduates from Preschool
Selling our House
Moving to New Orleans...hopfully in mid June
Getting settled in NOLA
Chad and I travelling to Colorado for a CRM Conference (the boys will get to play with Nana and PomPom for a week)
Andrew turns 5 and will start Kindergarden in August

And who knows what September, October, November and December will hold.

Of course these are our plans, but we want to follow what the Lord may have for us. Whatever that maybe, His timing, His plan, we need to remember that it His perfect plan.

Happy 2007!
